The Maine Facts

When: July 13 – 20, 2019

We depart from APC on Saturday, July 13th at 8:00 am. We spend Sunday worshipping, meeting site leaders and building community. We begin work on Monday morning and work full time through Thursday.  We work a half-day on Friday, July 19th and then will enjoy an evening of whole-group fellowship activities.  The trip closes with prayer at 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 20th followed immediately by departure back to Allentown Presbyterian Church.

Where: We’ll be staying in the dorms at the University of Maine in the charming little town of Farmington.

What: We’ll be doing construction work on homes. In the past we’ve done roofing, painting, building wheelchair ramps, siding, repairing porches, installing windows, putting up drywall and even rebuilding an entire bathroom! Our mission partners require youth to be at least 14 years old to work on-site without a parent.

Who: Anyone! This is an intergenerational trip designed for the whole family. No matter your age or skill level there is a place for you on this trip. Youth entering grades 9 – 12 (including graduating 8th grade students) in the Fall of 2019 can come without their family but students in Elementary & Middle School need to attend the trip with a parent.

Adults – age 25 and over– being able to drive youth

College/Graduates – ages 18-24 – graduated from HS

Youth – ages 14-17 – in HS, including 8th grade graduates

Youth – ages 12-13 with parent – work site

Young Children – ages 5-11 – VBS

Very Young Children – ages 0-4 – parent is responsible

Why: Because in Jesus Christ, God modeled for us that true leadership is servant leadership and those who want to be the greatest will be servant to all. We go to Maine to humbly serve others and to be a blessing to anyone who might be in need. All that and itʼs just a bunch of fun spending a week with your APC family working side by side and sharing life for a whole week. Itʼs a trip that youʼll never forget!
